- The Holy Scriptures: We believe the Holy Scriptures
of the Old and New Testament to be the plenary verbal inspired word of
God, the final authority for faith, and life, inerrant in the original
writings, infallible and God-breathed. (II Timothy 3:16-17; II Peter
1:20)
- The Godhead: We believe in one triune God,
eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit;
co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and
glory, and having the same attributes and perfections. (Deut. 6:4; II
Cor. 13:14; Col. 1:16-17)
- The Father:
We believe in God the Father, the only true God, who created all things
and in whom we live and have our being. (John 17:3; Matt. 28:19; Rev.
4:11; Acts 17:28)
- The Son: We believe in the:
- Virgin birth of Christ (Isa. 7:14; Luke 1:35)
- Deity of Christ (John 8:58; Rev. 1:8)
- Miracles of Christ (John 2:11; John 11:43; John 1:44)
- Sacrificial death of Christ (Acts 1:9; I Cor. 15:1-6, 52)
- Bodily resurrection of Christ (Acts 1:9; John 15:3-4)
- Intercessory priesthood of Christ
- Pre-tribulational rapture of the church (John 14:3; 1 Thess. 4:?; 1 Cor. 15:52)
- Coming
again of Christ to rule and reign on the earth for a thousand years
during the millennial kingdom (Rev. 20:33-36; 1 Cor. 15:24-25)
- The Holy Spirit:
We believe that the Holy Spirit is a Divine Person; equal with God the
Father and God the Son, and of the same nature, that He was active in
the creation, and in His relation to the unbelieving world He restrains
the evil one until God's purpose is fulfilled; that He convicts of sin,
of unrighteousness, and of judgment to come, that He bears witness to
the truth of the gospel in preaching and testimony; that He is the
agent in the new birth, that He seals, endues, guides, teaches,
witnesses, sanctifies, and helps the believer. (John 14:16-17; Matt.
28:19; Heb. 9:14; John 14-26; Luke 1:35; Gen. 1:1-3; John 16:8-11; Acts
5:30; Acts 5:31-32; Romans 8:14, 8:16, 26-27)
- Doctrine of Satan:
We believe in the personality of Satan, that he is the active archenemy
of God the Father and the church today, that he is the author of all
sin and evil in the universe and the leader of fallen angels. (I Peter
5:8-9; Isa. 14:12-17; Matt. 4:2-11; Matt. 25:41; John 8:44; I John
5:19; Rev. 12:9-10, 20:10; Job 1:12; Isa. 12:12-14; Gen. 3:1-6; Rom.
5:12)
- Doctrine of Man: We believe the Genesis account
of creation. Man came into being by a direct act of creation and not by
evolution. We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of
God, but that by Adam's sin the race fell, inherited a sinful nature,
and became alienated from God; and that man is totally depraved, and of
himself utterly unable to remedy his lost condition. (Gen. 1:26-27;
Rom. 3:22-23; Rom. 5:12; Eph. 2:1-3, 12)
- Doctrine of Salvation:
John 3:7 teaches that one must be born from above and that his
salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by
personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed
on Calvary for forgiveness of our sins. (Eph. 2:8-10; John 1:12; Eph.
1:17; I Peter 1:18-20)
- Doctrine of Eternal Security of Believers:
We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God's power
and are thus secure in Christ forever. (John 6:37-40; John 10:27-30;
Rom. 8:1, 33-39; I Cor. 1:4-8; I Peter 1:5)
We believe that it is
the privilege of believers to rejoice in the assurance of their
salvation through the testimony of God's word; which, however, clearly
forbids the use of Christian liberty as an occasion to the flesh. (Rom.
13:13-14; Gal. 5:13; Titus 2:11-15)
- Doctrine of the Two Natures of Believers:
We believe that every saved person possesses two natures, with
provision made for the victory of the old nature through the power of
the indwelling Holy Spirit, and that all claims to the eradication of
the old nature in this life are unscriptural. (Rom. 6:13-23, 8;12-13;
Gal. 5:16-25; Eph. 4:22-24; Col. 3:10; 1 Peter 1:14-26)
- Doctrine of the Separation of Believers: We believe that:
- A Christian is to be separated to the gospel of Jesus Christ. (Rom. 1:1)
- A Christian is to be separated to fruitbearing as a disciple. (John 6:8)
- A Christian is to be in the world but not part of the world. (John 17:14-16)
- A
Christian should walk free of all known sin and in such a manner as not
to bring reproach upon his Saviour and Lord. (II Cor. 6:14-17, 7:1; I
John 2:15-17)
- A Christian should obey the command of
Scripture to "come out from among them and be separated" from religious
apostates, and to such doctrinal principles held dear to this church,
maintaining a separated position from neo-orthodoxy, neo-evangelicalism
and neo-evangelism, and the National Council of Churches.
- A Christian should walk free from worldly activities generally considered detrimental to Christian growth and service.
- Doctrine of Missions:
We believe that Matthew 28:18-20, "Go ye into all the world and preach
the gospel to every creature" is for Christians today, and every
Christian is obligated to be a missionary both at home and abroad,
through his service, prayer, and gifts. (Acts 1:8; II Cor. 5:19-20)
- Doctrine of the Church of Christ:
- We
believe the church, which is the body and the espoused bride of Christ,
is a spiritual organism made up of all born again believers of this
present age. (Eph. 1:22-23, 5:25-27; I Cor. 12:12-14; II Cor. 11:2)
- We
believe that the establishment and continuance of local churches is
clearly taught and defined in the New Testament Scriptures. The local
church is God's ordained earthly institution for the worship of God,
the training and fellowship of His people, and the spread of the Gospel
until He returns.(Acts 14:29, 20:12, 28:32; I Tim. 3:1-13; Titus 1:5-11)
- Doctrine of the Church Ordinances: We believe Christ has ordained two ordinances for the church:
- Baptism:
We believe that water baptism symbolizes the believer's baptism by the
Holy Spirit into the body of Christ (I Cor. 12:13), and our union and
identification with Christ in His baptism, death, and resurrection
(Rom.6:3-6), and that it is the initiation rite into the visible church
(Acts 2:41-47). We believe the only mode of baptism taught in Scripture
to be immersion, and immersion in water shall be the practice of this
church (Acts 8:36-39).
- The Lord's Supper: We believe the
Lord's Supper was instituted by Christ to be observed till He comes (I
Cor. 11:23-26). The broken bread and the cup symbolize the Lord's
broken body and shed blood and the eating and drinking are the
appropriation of His sacrifice by faith (Matt. 26:26-27). This
communion commemorates His death and proclaims it to all (I Cor. 10:16;
11:2426). Only believers should participate. Children should refrain
until they understand its spiritual significance. Believers should
participate only after self-examination and assurance of God's
forgiveness. (Cor. 5:8, 11:28-32; I John 1:9)
- Doctrine of the Dispensational Bible Study:
We believe in the dispensational view of Bible interpretation; that
there are seven dispensations; but we reject the extreme teaching known
as "Hyper-Dispensationalism," such as the teaching which opposes either
the Lord's Table or Water Baptism as a scriptural means of testimony
for the church in this age. (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 2:41-42, 18:8; I Cor.
11:23-26)
- Doctrine of the Eternal State:
- We
believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, the saved to eternal
life, and the unsaved to judgement and everlasting punishment. (Matt.
25:46; John 5:28-29; Rev. 20:5, 6, 12-13)
- We reject all
theories of "soul sleep." We believe that the souls of the redeemed
are, at death, absent from the body, present with the Lord, where in
conscious bliss they await the first resurrection, when Spirit, Soul
and Body are reunited to be glorified forever with the Lord. (Luke
23:43; Rev. 20:4-6; II Cor. 5:8; Phil. 1:23, 3:21; I Thess. 4:16-17)
- We
believe that the souls of unbelievers remain after death, in conscious
misery until the second resurrection, when, with soul and body reunited
they shall stand at the Great White Throne Judgement and shall be cast
into the Lake of Fire, not to be annihilated, but to suffer everlasting
conscious punishment. (Luke 16:19-26; Matt. 25:41-46; II Thes. 1:7-9;
Jude, verses6-7; Rev. 20:11-15)
